Hey, Angela here also known as The Carnivore Gal.
I have been following a carnivore lifestyle since October 2023 after exhausting all options to recover from Lyme Disease.
Just a little over one year ago I acquired Lyme Disease from a tick bite…
I live on a 6-acre wooded lot with my husband and lots of animals. We frequently have deer that pass through our yard. Deer ticks are in abundance.

One morning I woke up and I was running my fingers through my hair, I found a tick attached to my scalp.
I have no idea how long it had been there.
In that moment I told myself to look out for symptoms and then I quickly forgot about it.
2-weeks later, I started getting the following symptoms:

Within two months I was fully bed bound and could barely stand or walk.
I didn’t realize it was the tick until I got the stiff neck and then suddenly remembered.
I used the igenex testing with a naturopath to determine I was recently infected with the borellia bacteria.
I did a full 8-week detox which included using the anti-biotic doxycycline along with several other supplements for detoxing.
I suffered horrible “herx reactions” that made me feel like I may not make it. It made all symptoms 10-fold worse.
I was getting horrible dizzy spells and racing heart.
It was a chore to just walk from my bedroom to the kitchen. I barely had the strength to even brush my hair.
One morning I got up to let my dogs out and I felt extremely dizzy, then I got a stabbing pain in my side and blacked out.
I fell on my face and split open my eyebrow and my chin.
I had to go to the ER to get stitches and then I was admitted for 3 full days:
All of my bloodwork came back fine.
The MRI of my brain showed a lesion or change in the white matter, and they said that could indicate Lyme Disease or the beginning stages of MS.
While I was there the nurses would not allow me to get out of the bed without assistance because when I stood up my heart rate went up rapidly.
In the end they sent me away with a recommendation of Tylenol as needed.
They also referred me to physical therapist and a neurologist.
I decided to see neither…
I was following a plant-based diet and not getting better. That’s when my husband encouraged me to listen to Mikhaila Peterson’s testimonial.
At first, I thought it was the craziest thing I ever heard.
But the more I listened to carnivore doctors, nutritionists and others on the journey, the more intrigued I became.
I did months’ worth of research on the carnivore diet and decided to try that first.
Within 30 days I saw such drastic improvements I felt like a new person.
Here I am 60 days in feeling energetic for the first time in a long time and ready to celebrate Christmas with my family:
Within 90 days I was even better than before I got bit by the tick, and I thought I was fully healed.
I tried adding foods back in and that is when I realized I wasn’t actually healed but I was just in remission.
Fruits, Vegetables, Gluten and Grains all bring back my spine pain and I go back to barely being able to walk or function.
Eating this way has allowed me to be fully functional as if I do not have this. So, I decided to create a community to support one another on this very unique journey.
I wanted to pay forward my experience and everything I have learned along the way… while keeping myself accountable to my goals.
All of this aside, the energy and vitality that eating a carnivore diet provides, cannot be matched (in my opinion).
Yes, I tried the plant-based route and that is not for me. I don’t think this way of life is for everyone… But it is for a lot of people.
Eating a carnivore diet is the ONLY thing that helped me.
Hi Angela! I enjoy your Facebook page and I participate in your posts often with my comments. Wow- you went through a lot, with the Lyme disease. Your story is scary, interesting, and inspiring. As you mentioned, Mikhaila Peterson and her father Jordan Peterson found that the only diet that would cure them is carnivore. Wishing you the best, and thanks for your story and the Facebook page.
Thankyou for the kind comment Doug. I appreciate you stopping by and supporting me.
Just found you on Facebook and you have a lot of interesting information I’ll be looking into thanks for the tips and recipes.
You’re welcome.
Hi Angela,
I so enjoy your posts. Your story about your time with Lyme disease was very inspiring. I have MS, diagnosed in 2007. I am now 70 years old. I have a wonderful neurologist and also a naturopathic doctor who have controlled my MS symptoms. I have always followed a Keto diet but I want to try more of a Carnivore diet and some of your other suggestions.
Hey Carol.
Thank you for the kind words.
I’m glad that they are helping to keep your symptoms under control. Let me know if any of my suggestions help you further.
A new FB follower, been enjoying you content for only a few weeks now, and just learning of you amazing backstory. after passing out and and ending up in the Hospit twice nearly 10 yrs back -after a multitude of tests, a GI Dr finally figured out my body suddenly decided it couldnt process Gluten any longer. took bout 6 mns for my body to heal from the intestinal damage that could have been going on for yrs. Keep up the great work CHEERS
Hey James, I’m glad to hear that you were able to get to the bottom of your medical issues. Thank you for following me.
Hi Angela,
Thank you so much for sharing your experience in such detail! I truly appreciate your authenticity—it’s refreshing in a world where social media is often flooded with fake accounts and admins. Following you on Facebook, I’ve come to value how genuine your content is, and after digging a little deeper, I found your video here on the website and gave it a watch.
I first heard about the carnivore diet through Jordan Peterson, and I know his daughter advocates for it strongly. While I’m not currently following the diet myself, your video has been an important part of my own research, helping me weigh my options and lean toward giving it a try. Your honest and thoughtful approach really makes a difference—thank you for being such a trustworthy voice in this space!
Looking forward to seeing more of your content.
Thankyou Bill.
I appreciate your kind words.
I have really enjoyed your posts and learned so much from you! Thank you for doing all the research and sharing it in a digest format. You’ve inspired me to start carnivore WOR in January. What supplements do you recommend (besides electrolytes and iodine)? Thanks!
I’m so glad you are enjoying the content! Thanks for joining in the fun. In the wintertime when sun is lacking, I also take D3/K2 and if I’m not eating a lot of fish during the week then I will also supplement Omega 3’s. My wellness supplement recommendations are here: https://www.amazon.com/shop/anjilong/list/14TLE9LCYFJF3?ref_=aip_sf_list_spv_ofs_mixed_d and all my other favs are here: https://www.liinks.co/thecarnivoregal
Do you have a weekly menu that you follow?
Hey Chris. Not particularly. I just eat what I feel like eating each day.
Totally enjoyed Ready your story. I am motivated to try the Carnivore lifestyle.
Thank you for providing the motivation
Hey Greg, you’re welcome. Thanks for taking the time to read it.
Hi Angela, I found your site because of your chuck roast recipe (mine’s in the oven now). I am 67 years old and by age 26 my body was fully inflamed. Over the years (long story short), I have tried and seen “everything and everyone”. I have now been carnivore for 2 months. I lost 8 lbs in the first 4 weeks, and then nothing, I only need to lose about 5-8 more pounds. The inflammation is still VERY high in my body, and back pain! Still, I exercise daily. My energy and brainfog is much better, floaters in my eyes are gone so something IS working. My only “cheat” is 1 cup of organic coffee daily. I eat mostly BBBE (beef, bacon, butter, eggs, REAL salt, electrolytes). I do NOT want to give up hope! It seems so many others get relief within 2 months. Maybe I need a year of carnivore due to my age and long-term inflammation. Please HELP!!
Hey Bev.
I’m glad you found my website.
I’m also glad t hear that you’ve already seen many improvements.
After going so many years, you can’t expect for everything to fix itself overnight. As you said, you need to give this at least a year. That’s how long it has taken me to reverse the effects of lyme disease.
I wish you well on your health journey.
Thank you for your reply and the roast came out FANTASTIC! Please post more amazing recipes.
Great to hear. I’ll be working on way more recipes this year.
